Men In Tights
Robinhood (HOOD) reported earnings before the bell on Wednesday morning. The stock responded by closing down 14% on the session. Taking a look at the earnings report, here are the highlights:
- Quarterly revenue rose to $467 million, but short of expectations of $480 million.
- Earnings showed a loss of 0.09/share, which beat expectations.
- Crypto trading dropped 55% year-over-year.
- Transaction-based-revenue dropped by 11%.
The stock went public in the summer of 2021, and found an initial week-long bounce. It’s been all downhill ever since for the stock. From the peak of 2021 until today the stock has lost roughly 90% of its value. Is the selling over, or are we in for new lows on HOOD? Let’s take a look.

Since the start of 2022 RUT has been negatively diverging from SPX. This divergence continues to mount, as today can testify to. As I am writing this, RUT is down roughly 1% on the session and SPX is flat. You can see how striking the divergence has become in the chart below. To highlight the continuing nature of the divergence, see that RUT topped last Friday has been moving down steadily throughout this week. In contrast, SPX has continued to charge higher.

So Jerome Powell’s speech had the market ‘on edge’ before the opening bell, but the real story centers on “The 4400” for the S&P 500 futures.

Nasdaq 100 Futures (NQ): Video Update
The Nasdaq 100 E-mini Futures (NQ) have spiked to the top of a trend channel
This market has put TAs using nothing but their lines and squiggles in a blender and routinely ground them up. I have seen so many technical setups busted this year (AMAT, for example) in a warning not to be a TA or follow TAs that use only charts with no additional inputs.
Yet this update does just that, uses a chart and literally interprets a point where if NQ is going to fail, it would need to do it at that point. You can follow my new YouTube channel if you’d like.
