From the front page of Palo Alto’s hometown newspaper:

Let’s unpack this, shall we?
- A dean at Stanford (apparently bisexual, since she’s married to a sort-of man) starts a sexual affair with a young female student at Stanford decades younger than her (apparently drawn to the older woman who, let’s face it, is irresistibly attractive)
- The same dean (who of COURSE has a hyphenated name) at on Palo Alto’s city council
- The young woman breaks off the sexual affair and tells her parents, who immediately report the violation to Stanford
- The older woman resigns from Stanford but says nothing about why
- The city council figures out what’s going on and asks her to resign, but she tells them to piss off
- A couple of years ago, the affair is made public.
- Only this year, over a decade after the sexual affair, does Ms. Hyphenated decide not to run for re-election but instead focus on speaking and writing (because, incredibly, she’s written multiple books on good parenting, including a NY Times bestseller)
- The young woman who was, in my opinion, victimized, has now written a musical – – yes, a musical – – about the experience call Mimi & Jo described as “is a queer coming-of-age love story set to music that explores the intimacy of creative collaboration, exposes the pain of hindsight, and attempts to reconcile the gray space between attachment and abuse.”
You seriously can’t make this stuff up. If the video below is any indication of her charisma and creativity, I think I’ll give it a miss.
