I offer the bearish chart below for two reasons. First, MOV clearly has a habit of topping out and rolling over. And two, the pun was just impossible to pass by.

Slope initially began as a blog, so this is where most of the website’s content resides. Here we have tens of thousands of posts dating back over a decade. These are listed in reverse chronological order. It isn’t often that my ideas nail an exact top or bottom, but this is an exception: on December 14 of last year, I did a Premium post cleverly titled Utilities, Utilities, Utilities, and at the time I wrote quite plainly, “My view is that this sucker is about to roll over in a massive way.” Let’s see how that worked out:

This is a quick short idea. I have a special place in my heart for meme stocks. While the moves they made back in 2021 were truly remarkable (I admit I was extremely jealous at the time), those days are done. I’m sure some day we will see something like this happen again (much fewer and far between I think since now everyone is looking for it). But now any sort of “squeeze” attempts are being met with selling holding the resistance.

In my portfolio spreadsheet, I always tuck away positions I close so I can see what they do later (I update the data so that the “entry” price is whatever price I got at the exit). Just now, I sorted all these ex-positions by percentage gain, and the biggest ‘one that got away” is Crown Castle (CCI). Looking at the chart, it doesn’t seem that impressive, but the puts I sold on it have gone up an additional 221%.

I went long GDX puts yesterday and sold them about half an hour ago for a nice profit. I wanted to point out that a very heavily traded miner, symbol AG, just broke its lifetime trendline and could be an intriguing long-term short. I give to you: First Majestic Silver Corporation.
