To Bed Bath & Beyond, the meme-favorite of pre-pubescent “traders” who have been trading this thing all the way from $60 down to 30 cents, assuring the world it was going to “rocket” any moment now. Because they are ape-strong, ya know. I can only wish the entire S&P 500 looked exactly like this disaster. What a pleasure that would be!
Over my many years as a trader, I have become convinced that stocks, like people, have personalities and that, also like people, I get along better with some than I do with others. As long-time readers know, I’ve had a multi-month long infatuation with MongoDB (symbol MDB), but I’ve got to tell you, after losing, and losing, and then losing some more on this beast, I’ve had enough. The top is amazing, but it has become far too corrupted by its strength in 2023 for me to find it appealing. I have excommunicated it from my Bear Pen, and I shan’t be touching it again. Fooey!

I see the bulls on Slope are high-fiving about being long and raking in the green. Good for them. Q1 2023 has obviously been brutal for the bears, but I just looked at my portfolio, and I’m down 2.8% for the entire quarter. It’s a loss, true, but c’mon, considering what the bears have been through, that’s pretty damned good. In any case, I’m still heavy into cash (25.6% at the moment) and offer the item below as a prospective short play. I’ve got September $21 puts on this sucker:
