Every single item on my futures watch list is deep in the green today, which is annoying with some important exception: gold. Here we see GLD has mustered past its most recent (albeit small) basing pattern and is chipping away at that Ukraine Peak (which formerly had pushed futures to nearly $2100):
In spite of the eye-rolling rally on Monday, the financial sector (by far my biggest exposure in my live positions) continues to weaken. Here are the regional banks, by way of the ETF symbol KBE, which has (1) broken its key supporting trendline (2) is getting within spitting distance of completing a topping pattern, assuming it breaks under that horizontal.
I watched a very interesting video about trucking (a topic about which I know almost nothing) and learned quite a bit; I suggest you give it a watch, since it’s funny and informative:
The electric car sector is zipping higher today, perhaps due to enthusiasm around Tesla, much higher MPG requirements for gas-burning vehicles, or just an ‘on sale’ mentality from the investing public. Tesla, being by far the largest of an of these, is leading the way, although it still is simply in a “lower high” mode:
During the preposterous run-up in prices that terminated on March 29th, one of the first sectors I wanted to re-short was semiconductors. I got puts on AMD (July $130) and NVDA (July $300). How pleased I was yesterday morning to see Jim “I’ve out-Gartman’d Gartman” Cramer with this, the first of a number of tweets about him being an eager beaver about AMD.
