To my way of thinking, one proxy for the whole China/US trade deal (or no deal) is the agricultural products fund, symbol DBA. It isn’t particularly heavily-traded, and it’s been in a steady grind-down for years.
In the book Modern Money Theory by L. Randall Wray, the author declares of MMT (that is, Modern Monetary Theory) that it will go through three phases of public opinion.
First, it will be ridiculed. Second, it will be violently opposed. Third, and finally, it will be accepted as self-evident. I’m not sure if it will play out that way, but I’m here for offer an essay which is probably straddling the first and second phases.
Interestingly, this prediction was word for word what a certain Elizabeth Holmes declared in this video when she was making her final, desperate bid to save Theranos from its inevitable failure.
(more…)I’ve joked and mocked the man from time to time, but I’ve refrained since I’m weary of getting pissed-off emails form Slopers who adore and worship him. I don’t have the time or the interest, so I just avoid the topic altogether. But, orders are orders, and since my company is indeed an American company, I need to get busy looking for alternatives to China. So if I seem distracted, please understand that I’m simply doing my job. The boss has spoken.
