It’s comic to me that considering:

  1. The nation is helplessly drowning in a $32 trillion debt that will only grow trillions every year into infinity;
  2. The buying power of everyday people is shrinking on an everyday basis;
  3. Society’s fabric is being torn asunder;
  4. The proxy war in Ukraine gets worse by the day;
  5. The economy is heading straight into a cataclysmic recession

……..that the top concern everyone is breathlessly waiting for news on is whether the CPI is 5.0% or 4.9%. I mean, who give’s a rat’s ass? It’s like getting terminal cancer and being focused on a paper cut.

Welcome back from the weekend. We’re still in the throes of the quagmire, or face-off, or whatever other term you want to apply to a market that simply doesn’t know what to do with itself. My most optimistic (that is to say, bearish) point of view is that the resistance at 4200 is still our best friend, and the cyclic nature of the /ES over the past 9 months still suggests an erosion lower.

Feeling frustrated? You have every right to feel that way. For the past nine months, we have been banging up and down between 3800 and 4200 ad nauseum. I mean, if this is going to be the market until the end of time, terrific, because it’ll be a cinch to trade, but we all know this is not the. We are still range-bound, however, so for the moment, I think it’s safe to say the downside potential still substantially outweighs the upside potential.
