There were many comments for my EZ Disaster Guide post yesterday, in which I recounted some of the principal disaster scenarios offered up by a certain blog (which, again, I like very much) but never materialize. Slope’s own Mr. Wizard reminded me of some other “failed failures”, and I’d like to share them here in my own words, with thanks to Wiz:

Gold and Miners Finally Bust Out
As I wrote to my PLUS members on August 24th regarding junior miners, “..…as I look at the miners, I’m seeing signs of life. If you believe the breakout is meaningful and want to amp up your commitment, a good way to do it would by via the triple-bullish ETF symbol below, which itself has had a clean breakout from a rather long downtrend.”
Well, it didn’t take long for this to blossom, as gold has broken out smartly………
Beauty Gets Ugly
I made no secret that Sally Beauty Holdings was a good short, having done FOUR posts to that effect earlier this year. It’s finally kicking into high gear. I remain short.
Oh, and as for me dumping my SPY puts early this morning……..PHEW!!!!!
