Slope of Hope Blog Posts

Slope initially began as a blog, so this is where most of the website’s content resides. Here we have tens of thousands of posts dating back over a decade. These are listed in reverse chronological order. Click on any category icon below to see posts tagged with that particular subject, or click on a word in the category cloud on the right side of the screen for more specific choices.

The Nicest Kids in Town

Given the absolute tidal wave of new Slopers, I wanted to offer a few quick links as to how to participate in the community. There is no better community on the Internet for traders than Slope. This group is more intelligent, more participatory, and kinder than any other trading realm.

Here are the links that will help you:

  • Profile Editor to make sure you’ve got a cool avatar; the default avatar makes you look like a spammer. Don’t be that guy.
  • The Blog is where the comments live. At the bottom of every post is where do comments. There are typically several hundred a day, and several thousand on crazy days.
  • Here’s a Guide to using comments.
  • The Search Engine lets you search through our millions of historical comments that have been left over the years.

Head and Shoulders Above the Rest

First off, in case any of you are waiting for some kind of “sale” or coupon on a premium membership, just let it go. It won’t be happening. Slope is incredibly cheap considering what you get. So if you’re on the fence, but waiting, hoping for some kind of plea from me, it isn’t forthcoming. Just dive in. Here are the choices. You’ll be in excellent company. I’ve never had such a flood of signups.

The huge winner today, of course, was AOBC. It got slaughtered like 35%, and I got the hell out. It was a beautiful head and shoulders that took way too long to transpire, but transpire it did.

Sloper Level: Nostradamus

Note from Tim: Thanks to the much, much more interesting market (as opposed to just one month ago, when it was ungodly dull just crept up 0.5% day after goddamned day), my inbox has been flooded with myriad interesting characters, each of whom has their own tale.

I received an absolutely extraordinary email from one particular gentleman, who shall remain anonymous. After receiving this email, I asked his permission to share it with you, which is generously granted. Enjoy, and be amazed (note the only editing I have done is to boldface some items for emphasis):

A Kind Endorsement

By -

I received a lovely email from a premium subscriber who simply wanted to thank me for my ideas. He sent along a spreadsheet of his Slope-based trades over the past week or so, which revealed a handsome profit, and he noted I could use it as an endorsement. I confirmed he would permit me to share this anonymous spreadsheet, so I am pleased to do so below. I am so happy that my charting can be of aid to traders out there! Click on the image for readability. It’s quite interesting.

Slopolitics of Hope

In ten months, the election of 2020 will be over. All the Representatives will have been elected. Thirty-three Senate races will be done. And, of course, the Big Kahuna, the Presidential Race will be over. We’ll have have the current occupant another four years or his replacement.

I have a lifelong interest in politics, but some months ago, for a variety of reasons, I decided to engage in a self-imposed gag order on my own political talk. I’d say I’ve been rather successful at it. Except for an occasional outburst here or there, I rarely comment on politics here on Slope, and I certainly don’t do posts about it. (I don’t follow the same rule-set on my Twitter feed, but I consider that realm to be the wild west anyway, and not my own forum).
