Well, it’s finally here. After weeks of waiting, we can collectively anticipate the NVDA announcement of their quarterly earnings after the close today. It’s hard to believe that, only a few years ago, this is the same company that lost almost 70% of its value in a steady grind down.
One of the biggest also-rans in the Silicon Valley, with a staggering fall from grace since the year 2000, is Intel (INTC). This new interview does a marvelous job explaining how they lost their way (the short answer: an addiction to stock buybacks which led them to, for example, fail to buy Nvidia for next to nothing years ago).
This is a remarkable table. You can see how much the gazillionaires like Zuck and Elon skew things in the U.S., since the average adult wealth is almost two-thirds of a million dollars, while the median adult wealth is only one-eighth of a million dollars.
If you’re the kind of person who gets into tons of earnings reports and mountains of economic data to stir things up, you’re in for some disappointment. There is precious little on the horizon, and even the one data point (PCE) that is a little bit interesting has been rendered kind of pointless since Powell has already caved to Trump and has all but promised a rate cut. Shhhh!
