I saw a prominent article yesterday which struck a chord with me personally.

Slope initially began as a blog, so this is where most of the website’s content resides. Here we have tens of thousands of posts dating back over a decade. It will be no surprise to long-time readers that I’m very picky about my work environment. In particular, I cannot stand sitting at a desk. I need to stand.
Since most of the world is designed for people to sit their rear ends on a chair and stay planted there all day, I have to improvise. Sometimes with boxes. Sometimes with boxes of games. And, this time, with two squishy pillows on top of a table. One does what one must.

Most colleges are essentially high schools (in terms of rigor and curriculum) except with an $80,000 tuition. As the preposterous inflation in the education sector has taken hold, folks are deciding it isn’t worth the opportunity cost and tuition (well over half a million dollars), particularly for anything other than a top-tier education. It’s no surprise that middling schools are dying off, one by one.

Here’s what the known world looked like 800 years ago. All I know is that if I had to choose a country to hail from, it would have to be Khakass.
