Deodorant in Calcutta
Here’s a map I bet you’ve never seen: the percentage of homes with air conditioning. Only 5% in India — sweltering, sticky India. Yikes! Thank God for Carrier, am I right?

NYUGrad’s Substack
This is a simple post of gratitude. It is directed toward 5-star general NYUGrad, with a suggestion you check out his Substack. He didn’t ask me to do this. I’m not getting anything for it. And I didn’t even tell him, since I’m not the sort to ask permission for, well, anything. The thing is, he has been a long-time friend on Slope, and he was such a relentless pain in the ass about getting me on Substack, I finally gave in and set up a Slope site there as well as one for my forthcoming novel. I’m stubborn, I know.
NYUGrad has met with much success at Substack, and I wanted to acknowledge his generous urgings which have helped me, and the rest of us, out. Thank you, sir, and continued success to you!
Dining with Zuck

Not to meet him, of course, but just seeing him doing this or that with co-workers, or maybe on the Stanford campus. Sightings of high-tech celebrities are not uncommon here, and folks know pretty much to leave them alone, particularly since they probably have security watching over them.
Last night, however, I saw him for the first time in a very long time, and in a rather unlikely place. I didn’t recognize him at first, since he’s got the Cool New Zuck appearance going………
